Irreconcilable to Hunt's Reconciliation

"Neither warrior realizes how reconciliation entails his ruin" (6)

I disagree with Hunt's statement that Coriolanus and Aufidius are unaware of the danger they put themselves into when choosing peace over their natural element, war.  In my last blog post, I stated how immediately after Coriolanus succumbs to Volumnia's pleading, he shows an awareness of the impending mortal consequences of this supplication.  Furthermore, I read Aufidius's deference to Coriolanus differently.  To me, Aufidius was always out to conquer Coriolanus.  Perhaps he felt that slitting the throat of a willing Coriolanus was not honorable; Aufidius therefore through what Hunt calls "policy", plotted to kill Coriolanus.  I agree with Hunt that both men possess striking similarities, yet I don't agree with this point that he uses to back up his "twinning" interpretation.
